A magnaprobe is a gimbal mounted alnico bar magnet that is free to rotate in 3D (basically a gyroscope). It is an excellent tool for indicating the direction of magnetic poles in magnets, detecting the presence of magnetic flux in general and tracing the shape of magnetic fields around magnets.

This model (Mark II) is very sensitive and accurate. An excellent demonstration tool.
