To determine if your calculator is the NEW model, simply check if it has a single screw on the back of the calculator battery panel. All TI-Nspires sold after 2014 use the new type battery.

TI-NSPIRE^TM CX HANDHELDS 
The TI-Nspire™ CX and TI-Nspire CX CAS handhelds come with the TI-Nspire Rechargeable battery installed. The TI-Nspire Rechargeable Battery is expected to last up to two weeks of normal use on a single charge. Use the plug-in wall adapter to power up the handheld, just like a cell phone.
