The IEC 'Tensile Testing Machine' is a simple but effective system of measuring the tensile strength of metals. Wire is used so that the forces involved are small and can easily be applied in the classroom. The machine uses an accurate dial indicator (resolution of 0.01mm) to measure stretch (extension) and uses a set of normal slotted weights to apply tensile forces to the various wires.

The machine provides 3 different anchor points for the wires so that, effectively, the wires can be tested at 3 different lengths.

The machine is supplied with rolls of .037mmD copper wire, 0.32mmD brass wire and 0.28mmD iron wire. NOTE:: The 9x50g and / or 9x100g slotted weight sets are not supplied with the machine.
