Have students care for fish and grow food at the same time!
Many teaching applications – ecosystems, sustainability, aquaponics, ecology, gardening.
A self-cleaning fish tank that grows food! This 11 litre fish tank (new model) is a self-cleaning ecosystem. Using the science of aquaponics, the fish waste naturally fertilises the plants above and, in turn, the plants clean the water for the fish. Great to have in classrooms!
The unit comes ready to go – tank, grow lid & tray, pump, seeds, growing stones, gravel for the bottom of the tank and more are included. Just fill with water, add fish and plant the seeds! All parts and accessories are available separately.
Classroom applications include running controlled experiments to measure and record water temperature, pH, ammonia, and nitrate levels and then to chart the information against events in the aquarium. Also students can compare, record and assess plant growth against variations in light, temperature, UV etc.
